It’s fall, y’all!

September 22 is the autumn equinox, which is when the sun crosses the equator from the north to the south! The autumn equinox occurs at the same time across the globe. As the official start to fall turns the corner, the world prepares for some cooler weather and color-changing leaves!

The Best Places to See Fall Foliage in Maryland

Seneca Creek State Park, located in Gaithersburg, is a whopping 6,300 acres of amazing fall foliage viewing. With scenic areas on and off the Seneca Creek, take a hike through the woods, ride down the river, or sit at a picnic bench to witness the beauty of fall. 

Sugarloaf Mountain, named after its early hunters and pioneers, is open year-round to the public. Gunpowder Falls State Park, located in northern Baltimore County,  is ready for fall lovers! Its scenic wildlife and wilderness are equipped with not only stunning views but recreational activities. Chesapeake and Ohio Canal has been in operation for 100 years. Beginning as a dream of passage for citizens traveling west in search of gold, or a fresh start, the C&O Canal is loaded with history and natural treasures. Hike the Billy Goat Trail, meet some mules or visit Great Falls Tavern, it is impossible to not embrace the fall season here!
