Summer Is in Bloom at Sherwood Gardens

Posted June 25th, 2021

Summertime is in full bloom, which means it’s the perfect time to visit Sherwood Gardens! This beautiful blooming oasis in the middle of Baltimore provides a sweet escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. A visit to the gardens is free of charge but is maintained by donations throughout the year. The gardens were started by businessman and philanthropist John Sherwood in the early 1900s. Upon his passing, his will left money to preserve them over the years.

If you want to make an afternoon of your visit, pack a picnic to enjoy among the seasonal flowers! They do allow outside food but ask that you bring your trash with you as there are no receptacles on site, so just be prepared for that. If you prefer to have your food prepared for you, it’s located right by great restaurants like Ambassador Dining Room and Miss Shirley’s Cafe, so you could walk there after you explore the gardens. Enjoy the adventure!
